How Do You Do Your Job the Day AFTER a Disaster?

Speaker: Melony Ritter

 

This presentation will introduce audience members to the concept of continuity planning.  This will include a brief overview of continuity, including its definition, the legal basis for continuity planning, the Continuity Program Management Cycle, and essential elements of a viable continuity program.

 

By the end of the presentation, audience members will be able to:

  • Define continuity of operations.
  • Identify the legal basis for continuity of operations.
  • Explain the Continuity Program Management Cycle.
  • Describe the elements of a viable continuity program.

 

Regrettably, Bert Clevenger is unable to present this month's program as Bert has taken a new job is moving to the Paragould area. He is leaving NPCC at the end of this month. In his place, will be Melony Ritter who developed the business continuity program at National Park Community College.

Melony Ritter holds a B.S. in Organizational Management from John Brown University, and a M.Ed. in Learning Systems Technology from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She has completed crisis management and continuity of operations training through ADEM and FEMA.

She serves as the Special Projects Coordinator at National Park Community College, where she coordinates campus wide business continuity planning, strategic energy planning, and legislative research. She is also an adjunct faculty member, and Student Government Association advisor.

Melony has management experience in both the public and private sectors. Her expertise is in the areas of governance, strategic management, communication, and technology.
