After the passage of the ACA, employers and HR professionals have (hopefully) benefited from an increase in the sophistication and service models of the brokerage community. It is no longer enough to simply try and quote a group at renewal and try to save money. Compliance support and technology are increasingly becoming the standard as opposed to a differentiating factor. This discussion will take a closer look at some of things employers and HR professions should come to expect from their broker from technology standpoint. A few specific discussion items include:
- Types of benefits administration platforms.
- Benefits administration versus Human Capital Management.
- The Zenefits model, and the missing link.
- The convergence of payroll and benefits platforms (and some of the challenges).
- How HR can leverage the ACA, technology, and benefits to create efficiencies and improve the healthcare experience of employees.

Joe Childers, a Jonesboro native, has spent his entire career in the HR, Benefits, and technology fields. After graduating from JHS, Joe attended the University of Central Arkansas and completed a degree in International Trade. Shortly thereafter, he completed an International MBA at UCA in partnership with The Hague School of Business in the Netherlands.
After graduating, Joe settled in central Arkansas working with Transamerica Employee Benefits for just over a decade. Then, Joe spent four years as owner and president of Watershed Benefits, helping hundreds of Arkansans navigate the post- ACA healthcare market. In 2016, Joe joined JTS Financial to bring his experience in the group and individual markets to one of the fastest growing Arkansas benefits and HR firms.
